Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 23-year-old man, Adeshola Muyiwa, for allegedly defrauding a food vendor with a fake transfer alert in Agbado, Ifo Local Government Area.
According to the police, Muyiwa visited a food vendor at Owolanwa Junction, Agbado, around 8 a.m. on Sunday, 17 May 2026, bought food items worth ₦2,600, and presented a fake transfer alert as payment. Officers of the Agbado Division, led by DPO Adesanya Oyekanmi, arrested him at about 11:45 a.m. the same day.
Confirming the arrest, Police Public Relations Officer DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi said preliminary investigations showed the suspect had been using a pattern of fake and scheduled transfer scams across Agbado and neighbouring areas to defraud unsuspecting traders. During interrogation, Muyiwa reportedly confessed to the crime and claimed he had made about ₦10 million from similar acts over time.
