The Nigerian Army has declared 38 senior commanders of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) wanted, intensifying its crackdown on insurgency in the North-East.
According to a statement from the headquarters of Operation HADIN KAI, the breakthrough followed recent offensive operations in the Lake Chad region of Borno State, where troops recovered a camcorder and other critical intelligence materials.
Military authorities disclosed that forensic analysis of the recovered devices enabled the identification of several high-ranking ISWAP leaders and their operational locations, particularly within the Mangari–Metele–Dogon Chukun axis spanning Abadam and Kukawa Local Government Areas.
Among those listed is Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa, identified as the group’s Wali (governor) and one of the most wanted insurgent leaders in the Lake Chad Basin.

Also named are Muhammad Jidda, popularly known as “The One-Handed Man,” believed to be the deputy leader and Amirul Jaish, and Hamad Abu Hanifa, the Amirul-Fiya of the group.
The Army further announced a financial reward for credible information that could lead to the arrest of Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa, urging members of the public to support ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
Authorities assured that all information provided will be handled with strict confidentiality, with adequate measures in place to protect the identity of informants.
Residents in affected communities are encouraged to report useful intelligence through established security channels or by contacting designated emergency lines, as the military continues its efforts to dismantle terrorist networks in the region.
