
Troops of Sector 2 under Operation HADIN KAI have successfully neutralized a suspected terrorist and recovered weapons and logistics during a coordinated operation in Yobe State.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Acting Military Information Officer of the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni.
According to the statement, the operation was launched following credible intelligence on the movement of suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP عناصر traveling in two Volkswagen Golf vehicles and motorcycles. The suspects were reportedly on a mission to extort illegal levies from communities in the area.
Troops from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bukarti, in collaboration with the 27 Task Force Brigade, swiftly mobilized and conducted an aggressive patrol to the Paya Kafiya axis on July 19, 2026.
Upon contact, the troops engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, successfully immobilizing one of the vehicles and neutralizing its driver.

Unable to withstand the military pressure, four other suspects fled into nearby bushes with gunshot wounds.
Follow-up clearance operations carried out on July 20 along the Paya Kafiya–Garin Gada axis led to the recovery of the abandoned vehicle and several items.
Recovered materials include 25 rounds of belted PKT ammunition, a loaded AK-47 magazine, 15 empty PKT ammunition casings, assorted drugs such as paracetamol and nicotine products, as well as mechanical tools believed to support terrorist logistics operations.
Captain Goni emphasized that the operation highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-driven missions and the military’s sustained efforts to disrupt terrorist activities in the North East.
He reaffirmed that Operation HADIN KAI remains committed to maintaining pressure on insurgent groups through coordinated operations with other security agencies, with the aim of restoring lasting peace and stability in the region.
