
The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old woman, Sadiya Lawal, over an alleged attempt to take the life of her husband in Katsina metropolis.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the incident was reported at the Central Market Police Division in the early hours of Monday.
The victim, identified as Jamilu Ibrahim, told police authorities that he was attacked by his wife while asleep at about 5:30 a.m. He sustained a serious injury and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment and responding well.
Police operatives swiftly visited the scene, arrested the suspect, and recovered the knife allegedly used in the incident.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect remains in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

In a related development, the command also foiled a planned bandit attack in Dandume Local Government Area. Security operatives responded to a distress call reporting the movement of armed men on motorcycles along the Kadisau-Sheme Road.
A joint team of the police and local security units engaged the suspects, forcing them to flee. Two motorcycles and a machete were recovered at the scene, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing individuals.
Reacting to the developments, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Umar Fage, commended the officers for their swift response and reiterated the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
He also advised residents to avoid domestic violence and seek peaceful means of resolving conflicts, urging the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information.
