
Two members of a local vigilante group have been killed following a late-night attack in Ta-Hoss community, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident occurred around 10 p.m. on Wednesday while the victims were on routine patrol, safeguarding the community against rising insecurity.
The deceased have been identified as Davou Dalyop Patu, 48, and Dalyop Zaram, 38—both active members of the local vigilante outfit known for their commitment to protecting lives and property in the area.
According to residents, the attackers struck unexpectedly, leaving the community in shock and deepening fears over the worsening security situation in the region.
The identities of the assailants remain unknown at the time of filing this report.

A community leader, Livinus Badung, confirmed the attack and described the victims as dedicated volunteers whose loss has left residents devastated.
“The community is still grappling with the impact of this tragic incident,” he said, noting that their deaths have created a significant security gap.
Also reacting, the National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM), Rwang Tengwong, condemned the killings and extended condolences to the bereaved families.
He called on security agencies to intensify efforts in curbing attacks on rural communities and ensure that those responsible are swiftly brought to justice.
The latest incident adds to growing concerns over persistent attacks in Plateau communities, with residents urging authorities to take decisive action to restore safety and confidence in the region.
