Fabio Wardley has vowed to reclaim his WBO heavyweight title after activating the rematch clause for another showdown with Daniel Dubois following their explosive clash in Manchester.
Wardley suffered an 11th-round stoppage defeat on Saturday night despite dropping Dubois twice during a thrilling contest that has already been labelled one of the best heavyweight fights in recent years.
The Ipswich-born boxer confirmed he is determined to avenge the loss and correct the mistakes that allowed Dubois to seize the momentum late in the fight.
“I’m coming for my belt,” Wardley declared after enforcing the rematch clause included in the fight contract.
“The boxing world knows my character, and Saturday night proved that without a shred of doubt.

It was a fight for the ages, but I made some mistakes that I will rectify in the rematch.”
Dubois battled back impressively after early knockdowns to stop Wardley in the 11th round and become a two-time world champion in front of a packed crowd at the Co-op Live Arena.
Promoter Frank Warren confirmed that the rematch is expected to take place later this year and described the first encounter as the greatest heavyweight fight he has ever promoted.
Dubois also praised Wardley’s toughness after the fight, calling him a “warrior” following their brutal encounter.
Despite suffering facial injuries during the bout, Wardley reportedly did not require hospital treatment and is already focused on preparing for another blockbuster battle with Dubois.
