
Suspected gunmen have attacked Binper community in Bwai District of Mangu Local Government Area, Plateau State, leaving more than 20 people dead and several others injured.
The attack reportedly occurred around midnight and continued into the early hours of Tuesday, with the assailants allegedly moving from house to house and attacking residents while they slept.
The incident comes less than a week after three people were killed amid rising tensions between Fulani and Mwaghavul communities, following accusations of arson.
The National President of the Mwaghavul Development Association (MDA), Bulus Dabit, said the attackers invaded the community in large numbers and were armed with sophisticated weapons.

According to him, the gunmen reportedly forced their way into homes, opened the doors of sleeping residents and attacked them.
Dabit said more than 20 deaths had been confirmed as of Tuesday morning, while several others sustained injuries of varying degrees.
He also disclosed that some residents remained missing following the attack, with their whereabouts yet to be established.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command, SP Alfred Alabo, said the police were aware of the attack but could not provide further details as security operations were still ongoing in the area.
He added that the command had yet to complete its assessment of the situation.
The latest attack has heightened concerns over the security situation in parts of Plateau State, with residents anxiously awaiting further information from security authorities.
