
Fear has gripped residents of Umunjo community in Irete, Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State, following an attack that claimed the lives of two men.
The victims, including a vigilante operative, were reportedly attacked on Monday while inspecting a property in the area. Residents alleged that suspected herdsmen were responsible for the attack.
The Imo State Police Command confirmed the incident and ordered the deployment of additional security personnel to Owerri West, Oguta and adjoining communities.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Henry Okoye, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Audu Garba Bosso, condemned the killings and directed security units to identify and arrest those responsible.
The Anti-Kidnapping Unit and Violent Crime Response Unit have also been deployed to intensify security operations and work with local vigilantes.
Residents have appealed to security agencies to restore calm and apprehend the fleeing attackers, amid concerns over repeated attacks in the community.
