
A farmer has been confirmed dead following a fresh attack by suspected gunmen in Butura Gida village, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, further deepening concerns over the region’s deteriorating security situation.
The incident reportedly occurred around 7:47 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, according to security updates shared by analyst Zagazola Makama on X (formerly Twitter).
Troops under Sector 5 of Operation Enduring Peace were said to have swiftly responded to a distress call from the community.
However, by the time they arrived at the scene, the assailants had already fled, leaving behind the lifeless body of the victim.

Security sources revealed that a manhunt has been launched to track down and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
This latest incident comes less than 24 hours after another disturbing development in Plateau State, where a 13-year-old herder, identified as Mustapha Abdul Kadir, was reportedly found dead alongside four cattle in Mangu Local Government Area.
Authorities suspect the involvement of armed militia in that attack.
Earlier on the same day, two residents were also killed in Torok community, Riyom Local Government Area, in an assault attributed to suspected Fulani bandits.
The series of violent incidents has heightened fears among residents, as recurring clashes and reprisal attacks between farming and herding communities continue to claim lives and disrupt livelihoods across Plateau State.
Security agencies have assured the public of intensified operations aimed at restoring peace and preventing further attacks in the affected areas.
