
A 30-year-old man, identified as Elisha Abbas Saku, was killed in a violent attack by gunmen on Thursday night in Riwhie-Chwo, a community in Nzharuvo, Miango District of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State.
Residents reported that the assailants stormed the area around 10 p.m., causing widespread panic before carrying out the killing. The Irigwe Youth Movement confirmed the incident in a statement issued Friday, condemning the act as brutal. The group’s National Publicity Secretary, Joseph Yonkpa, expressed condolences and called for comfort for the bereaved family and the wider Irigwe community.

Efforts to reach the spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command, Alabo Alfred, for comment were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
The attack underscores ongoing security concerns in Plateau State, particularly in Bassa LGA, where rural communities have frequently been targeted.
In a separate development, court proceedings in an unrelated case saw a victim, Mrs. Omietimi, testify about her abduction. She identified one of the defendants, Eligwe, as the person who held her captive. An investigating officer from the DSS in Bayelsa State also testified, explaining how the suspects were located and apprehended.
