
A former councillor in Plateau State, Daniel Danjuma, has been killed after gunmen launched a late-night attack on Rim Community in Riyom Local Government Area.
The attack occurred at about 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, when armed assailants reportedly invaded Torok village in Rim Community, shooting indiscriminately. Danjuma, who represented Rim Ward in the local council and was popularly known as “Hon. Star,” was killed during the assault.
The incident was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM), Twang Tengwong, who described the killing as tragic and unacceptable.
According to the group, the attackers stormed the community in large numbers and opened fire on residents before fleeing the area. It also alleged that another resident, identified as David Dachollom Danjuma, sustained a serious gunshot wound during the attack.

The BYM expressed deep concern over the continued attacks on communities in Riyom and called on security agencies and the Plateau State Government to intensify efforts to apprehend those responsible.
The association also extended its condolences to the family of the deceased and the people of Torok Community, urging authorities to ensure justice is served while strengthening security across the affected areas.
As of the time of filing this report, the Plateau State Police Command had not issued an official statement on the incident.
