A 22-year-old man, Ahmed Saleh, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly impersonating a police officer and unlawfully entering a female students’ hostel in Bauchi.
The suspect reportedly invaded the female lodge of Malikiyya College of Health, located in the Old GRA area, in the early hours of Friday. He is accused of attempted rape and theft during the incident.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the command received a distress call at about 6:30 a.m., reporting that an unidentified man dressed in full police camouflage had gained access to the hostel around 2:30 a.m.
Saleh allegedly claimed to be attached to a security outfit known as Garu Security Service, raising suspicion among the students.
Acting swiftly, the Divisional Police Officer of ‘B’ Division led a team of detectives and patrol officers to the scene, where the suspect was apprehended. The police also recovered the camouflage uniform he allegedly used in impersonating a security operative.

Further investigations revealed that the suspect may be linked to multiple theft incidents previously reported within the hostel vicinity.
He remains in police custody, and authorities have confirmed that he will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has issued a stern warning against impersonation of security personnel, emphasizing that such acts will not be tolerated.
He also reassured residents, particularly students, of the command’s commitment to ensuring safety and security across educational institutions in Bauchi State.
