Security operatives have raided a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Bauchi State, leading to the arrest of one suspect and the recovery of items believed to have been used in criminal activities.
The operation was carried out at Yalwan Mball Mountain in Mball Ward of Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area following intelligence that a suspected kidnapper who had fled an earlier operation was seen in the area with a motorcycle.
A joint team comprising police officers from the Bununu Division, local security volunteers, and hunters stormed the location. According to authorities, the suspected criminals opened fire on the advancing team, prompting a gun battle before they escaped into the surrounding bush.
During a search of the hideout, security operatives recovered a Boxer motorcycle suspected to have been used for criminal operations, three operational uniforms, and other items believed to belong to the fleeing suspects.

Police later arrested a 37-year-old suspect, identified as Muhammadu Sale, in connection with the case. He is currently in custody and is expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The police said surveillance has been strengthened across the area to prevent the suspects from regrouping, noting that the community remains calm after the operation.
The Commissioner of Police commended the officers, local vigilantes, and hunters for their coordinated efforts and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information that could assist security agencies in tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
