The Rivers State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a notorious “one-chance” robbery syndicate operating within the state.
The suspects were apprehended following an incident involving a female victim who boarded a minibus in the Rumuosi area of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, unaware that the vehicle was occupied by members of a criminal gang.
According to eyewitness accounts, the situation escalated when the victim realized she was in danger and began shouting for help while attempting to escape. Her distress attracted the attention of nearby residents, who quickly mobilized and pursued the vehicle.
The chase came to an abrupt halt when the driver, reportedly unfamiliar with the area, got stuck. Residents descended on the suspects before police operatives arrived at the scene, rescuing them from mob action and taking them into custody.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command described the arrest as a significant breakthrough in the ongoing fight against “one-chance” syndicates.

The suspects, identified as Uche Samuel, 45, and Nkechi Amadi, 42, both from Imo State, reportedly confessed to their involvement in the crime during interrogation.
Police authorities have since intensified efforts to apprehend other members of the syndicate, extending surveillance and intelligence operations across the state.
The Commissioner of Police reiterated the Command’s commitment to eliminating criminal activities, assuring residents that there will be no safe haven for perpetrators.
He also urged the public to remain vigilant and provide timely information to support law enforcement efforts.
The Command reaffirmed its resolve to ensure the safety and security of all residents, emphasizing that proactive policing strategies will continue to be deployed to curb crime in the state.
