
Seven people have been confirmed dead, while five others sustained injuries in a tragic road accident along the Bauchi–Maiduguri Highway in Bauchi State.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said the crash occurred on Saturday at Kajutu village, involving a commercial Galaxy Sharon bus and a MAN diesel tipper truck. Preliminary findings blamed the accident on traffic signal violation and dangerous driving along a rough section of the highway.
Twelve people were involved in the collision, comprising 10 adult males, one adult female and one male child. Seven adult males died in the crash, while the five injured victims were rescued and taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, for treatment.

The deceased were identified as Garba Babaji, Alkali Galadima, Aliyu Samanja, Abba Abbo, Amadu Guruza, Rabiu Baura and Ibrahim Gucho Officer. They were all said to be from Misau Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
FRSC officials also recovered several personal belongings from the accident scene, including mobile phones, cash, a travelling bag and a wallet. Meanwhile, former Senator Isah Hamma Misau extended his condolences to the families of the victims and urged motorists to strictly observe traffic rules to help reduce road accidents.
