Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Edo State Command, have arrested three suspected internet fraudsters over an alleged ₦7 million scam involving a Nigerian resident in Italy.
The suspects were identified as Peter Odion, 21; Anthony Ernest, 20; and Destiny Saturday, 20. They are all reportedly from Ebele in Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State.
The Edo State NSCDC Commandant, Akintayo Saidi Ayinla, said the suspects allegedly used a female photograph to establish contact with the victim on Facebook.
According to him, one of the suspects, Destiny, allegedly posed as a female native doctor and claimed to possess spiritual powers capable of making the victim wealthy.

Ayinla said the victim was allegedly convinced by the claims and made several payments to Destiny for the purported spiritual services before discovering that he had been defrauded.
The commandant disclosed that a petition was subsequently submitted to the NSCDC by Barrister Oni Isibor on behalf of the victim, requesting an investigation into the alleged fraud.
He said operatives of the command deployed intelligence gathering and technology-driven tracking to trace and arrest the three suspects.
Ayinla added that the suspects had reportedly confessed to the alleged offence and would be charged to court after the completion of investigations.
The NSCDC said its investigation into the matter is ongoing.
