The family of a businesswoman, Olayinka Oremade, has appealed to the Nigeria Police Force and the Ogun State Government to intensify efforts to rescue her and a member of her staff after they were allegedly abducted by gunmen in the Alapako/Oyebola area of the state.
Oremade and her staff member were reportedly kidnapped on Friday, August 14, while returning from a farm where the businesswoman had gone to create content for her business.
Her son, Oremade Ilerioluwa, said the attackers ambushed the victims’ vehicle while they were returning from the farm.
According to him, four armed men appeared in front of the vehicle, prompting his mother to attempt to reverse and escape. However, three other gunmen reportedly appeared from behind and shot the vehicle’s rear tyres, leaving the occupants stranded.
The victims were said to have abandoned the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot. While two members of the staff reportedly succeeded in fleeing, Oremade and another staff member were captured.
Ilerioluwa said the family was informed of the incident by the escaped workers and subsequently reported the matter to the police.
He added that officers from the nearest police station, Ajebo, searched the area but could not locate the abducted victims. The abandoned vehicle was reportedly recovered, while the two escaped staff members were taken in for questioning.
The alleged kidnappers later contacted the family and initially demanded N200m as ransom. Following negotiations, the demand was reportedly reduced to N100m.

Ilerioluwa said he was able to speak with his mother during one of the calls and that she appealed to him to seek financial assistance from relatives to secure her release.
The family said local hunters had also joined the search for the victims, but their efforts had yet to lead to a rescue.
The relatives have appealed to the police, government and members of the public to assist in securing the release of the two victims, saying the family is unable to raise the N100m ransom allegedly demanded by the kidnappers.
Efforts to obtain a response from the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Babaseyi Oluseyi, were unsuccessful as calls and messages sent to him had not received a response as of the time of filing the report.
