
Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised several terrorists and recovered weapons and ammunition during separate operations in Zamfara and Kaduna states.
The military operations were carried out on Wednesday as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist activities and prevent the movement of illegal arms across the North-West region.
In Zamfara State, troops acting on intelligence reportedly laid an ambush for terrorists moving from the Fakai area towards Kwanar Jolof and Tashar Dole in Shinkafi and Zurmi Local Government Areas.
The troops engaged the terrorists during the operation, neutralising several of them, while others escaped from the scene.
Items recovered included an RPG launcher, an RPG bomb, an AK-47 rifle, six AK-47 magazines, 106 rounds of ammunition and a motorcycle.
In a separate operation in Kaduna State, troops intercepted a vehicle at a checkpoint along the ,:Saulawa-Zaria Road.

During a search of the vehicle, a passenger allegedly attempted to flee after security personnel asked him to open his bag. Troops pursued the suspect and neutralised him.
A search of the bag reportedly led to the discovery of 793 rounds of ammunition concealed inside bags of gari.
The vehicle and its driver were subsequently taken into military custody for further investigation.
Military authorities said the operations formed part of sustained efforts to dismantle terrorist networks, intercept illegal arms and ammunition, and restrict criminal activities across the Joint Operations Area.
