Suspected armed bandits have abducted no fewer than 13 residents of Tangaram Village, located in the Wasagu District of Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, following a coordinated midnight attack.
According to local sources, the assailants invaded the community at about 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, firing gunshots into the air to create panic before forcefully entering homes and taking victims away toward the Zamfara border.
The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the incident, stating that all abducted individuals are adult male residents of the village. This clarification counters earlier reports suggesting a broader demographic of victims.
Police spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, disclosed that the victims remain in captivity, while security agencies have intensified rescue operations across affected border areas.
He explained that police tactical units, in collaboration with vigilante groups and other security operatives, are actively working along the Kebbi–Zamfara border corridor to secure the victims’ release and apprehend those responsible.
An eyewitness described the attack as terrifying, noting that the gunmen arrived on motorcycles and immediately began shooting, causing residents to flee in different directions.

Despite the chaos, the attackers managed to break into several homes and abduct multiple individuals.
Tangaram and neighboring communities have reportedly experienced repeated attacks due to their proximity to forest routes linking Kebbi, Zamfara, and Niger states areas often exploited by criminal groups.
Recent incidents in the Danko/Wasagu axis have involved mass abductions, with some victims allegedly released only after payment of substantial ransoms.
This latest attack has once again heightened concerns over the deteriorating security situation in Kebbi’s border communities, where residents continue to grapple with recurring threats of kidnapping, armed raids, and cattle rustling.
Authorities have assured the public that efforts are ongoing to restore safety and prevent further attacks in the region.
