
Bandits have abandoned a kidnapped couple and fled into the surrounding area after exchanging gunfire with security forces in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The victims, identified as Hassan Isah and his wife, Juliana Hassan, were rescued after troops responded to reports of their abduction in Ateli village.
The incident occurred around 12:30am on Friday, September 11, 2026, when troops deployed at Mayir Garrison, working alongside local vigilantes, launched an operation to track down the kidnappers.
The security team eventually caught up with the fleeing suspects, leading to a gun battle between the troops and the bandits.

During the confrontation, the kidnappers abandoned the couple and escaped into the surrounding area, allowing the security forces to safely rescue the victims.
However, Hassan Isah sustained injuries during the incident and was taken to General Hospital, Wamba, for medical treatment.
Security operatives have continued their search for the fleeing suspects, while troops remain deployed in the area to prevent further attacks and maintain security.
