A female teacher, Zainab Abdullahi, has died after she was allegedly struck by a Nigerian Army vehicle while travelling to work in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.
The incident reportedly occurred in front of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Gusau, as the teacher was riding on a motorcycle to Government Girls’ Day Secondary School (GGDSS), Tudun Wada, where she taught.
According to witnesses, the Army vehicle was allegedly being driven recklessly when it hit the motorcycle, leaving the teacher with severe injuries. The vehicle reportedly left the scene immediately after the collision without stopping to assist the victim.
Zainab later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
She was laid to rest following funeral prayers held at her family residence behind Man Dinawa in Gusau, attended by relatives, colleagues, friends and sympathisers.

The Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools expressed shock over the incident and called on the Zamfara State Government and the Nigerian Army to conduct a thorough investigation.
The union urged authorities to ensure anyone found responsible is held accountable, describing the late Zainab as a dedicated teacher whose death is a painful loss to the education sector.
As of the time of reporting, the Nigerian Army had not issued an official response. Efforts to obtain comments from the Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Onyechi Appolonia Anele, were unsuccessful, as calls and text messages were not answered.
