Security forces have successfully repelled multiple terrorist attacks in Katsina and Zamfara states, rescued an abducted traditional leader, and recovered weapons during coordinated operations aimed at strengthening security across the North-West.
The operations were carried out on July 2 as part of ongoing military efforts to dismantle terrorist networks operating in the region.
In Katsina State, troops on a fighting patrol came under attack between Amara and Chakau Junction in Danmusa Local Government Area.
The soldiers responded swiftly, overpowering the attackers and forcing them to flee. During the operation, security personnel recovered an AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with eight rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and two motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.
In another operation near Sabon Garin and Dantakeri villages in Dutsinma Local Government Area, troops working alongside other security agencies and local vigilantes successfully repelled another terrorist attack. One of the attackers was killed during the exchange of gunfire, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds.

Security operatives also rescued the District Head of Farin Hawa Village in Malumfashi Local Government Area, Mubarak Sharin, who had earlier been abducted by terrorists. The rescue followed a pursuit operation that led to a gun battle, during which one suspect was neutralised and the traditional ruler was freed unharmed.
Meanwhile, in Zamfara State, troops successfully defended their position against an attack in Dauran, Bukkuyum Local Government Area. A follow-up operation led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, four magazines, 35 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, a bandolier, and a hydration pack left behind by the fleeing attackers.
The military commended its personnel, other security agencies, and local vigilantes for their coordinated efforts, reaffirming its commitment to sustaining operations against terrorist groups and restoring lasting peace across the North-West.
