A gas-laden tanker burst into flames on Thursday after the driver reportedly lost control while travelling along Abaranje Road in the Ikotun area of Lagos State.
The incident occurred near Ola Farm Bus Stop when the tanker, said to be moving at high speed, hit a road bump, causing the driver to lose control before the vehicle caught fire.
Emergency responders from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service quickly arrived at the scene and successfully extinguished the blaze, preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings, businesses and other road users.
Authorities confirmed that no lives were lost and no injuries were recorded during the incident.
Traffic and security around the affected area were managed by officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and officers of the Nigeria Police Force from the Ikotun Division to ensure the safety of motorists and residents.

LASEMA said efforts were underway to evacuate the burnt tanker from the road, with heavy-duty equipment deployed to remove the wreckage and restore normal traffic flow.
The agency urged motorists to observe speed limits, particularly in residential areas and around speed bumps, stressing that responsible driving is essential to preventing avoidable accidents.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to prompt emergency response and public safety while commending all agencies involved and residents for their cooperation during the operation.
