A 33-year-old aluminium fabricator, Fatai Olamilekan, has been arrested for allegedly vandalising and attempting to steal iron fittings from the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) railway fencing in Odewale, Agbado, Ogun State.
The suspect was reportedly arrested around 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday by operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) during a routine patrol around Odewale Railway Station and its environs.
According to the Corps, Olamilekan was found with assorted iron fittings suspected to have been removed from the railway fence and packed in a sack, allegedly for evacuation and sale.

During questioning, the suspect reportedly confessed that he began removing the iron components around 8:00 p.m. and continued until between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. before leaving with plans to return for the items.
The So-Safe Corps described the alleged vandalism as a serious threat to railway infrastructure, warning that the removal of protective fencing could expose railway facilities to criminal activities and put passengers and railway operations at risk.
The suspect and the recovered items have since been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and possible prosecution.
