The Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ (ERCC) has called on the Nasarawa State Government and security agencies to urgently intervene following the reported abduction of its presiding pastor in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area.
The pastor, Rev. Monday Habu, was reportedly kidnapped by gunmen in the early hours of Wednesday, October 28, in Gudi Ginda community.
The church confirmed the incident in a statement, condemning the abduction and calling for immediate action to secure his safe release.
According to the church, the incident occurred barely three days after Daniel Philip Affiku, a member of the congregation who had also been kidnapped, regained his freedom.
It added that the latest abduction was part of a series of kidnapping incidents recorded in the community earlier this year.

The church expressed concern over the worsening security situation in the area, particularly along the Akwanga-Gudi road and in nearby rural communities, which it said had become unsafe for residents and travellers.
It warned that the repeated attacks posed a threat to the safety of residents and peaceful coexistence, especially as the 2027 general elections approach.
The church urged the state government and security agencies to increase their presence in the affected areas, strengthen surveillance and conduct regular patrols along vulnerable roads and rural settlements.
It also appealed to the abductors to release the pastor unharmed, describing him as a clergyman committed to serving poor and vulnerable people.
Despite the incident, the church maintained that it would not be intimidated by the attacks and vowed to continue praying while demanding improved security for its members and the wider community.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nasarawa State Police Command had yet to officially confirm the abduction, as attempts to reach the command were unsuccessful.
