The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man, Ayomide Kamula, over the alleged gang-rape of a 19-year-old woman in the Oke Sopen area of Ijebu-Igbo.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday, August 30, 2026, after the victim went to collect a key at a location in the area.
According to the victim, she was allegedly dragged into a building by two men and sexually assaulted. She identified one of the suspects as someone she knew, while the other was reportedly unknown to her.
The matter was formally reported to the police on Tuesday, September 1, by the victim’s mother.
Following the complaint, officers attached to the Ijebu-Igbo Division visited the alleged scene and commenced investigations. The victim was also taken to a hospital for medical examination and treatment with the aid of a police medical form.
The police later tracked and arrested Kamula, who is currently in custody and assisting investigators with the ongoing probe.
The command identified the alleged second suspect as Boye Balogun, who is currently at large. Police operatives have launched an intensive search to locate and apprehend him.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, reaffirmed the command’s zero-tolerance policy towards sexual and gender-based violence.
He assured the victim’s family and members of the public that the investigation would be handled thoroughly and discreetly, while efforts would continue to ensure that the fleeing suspect is brought to justice.
