The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested two suspects, Rose Daniel and Blessing John, over an alleged attempt to abduct a four-year-old girl, Ummi Mariam Abdullah, in Kuje Area Council of the FCT.
The suspects were reportedly arrested after a community member raised an alarm and alerted the police about the incident.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Mohammed Sanusi, disclosed the development to journalists on Wednesday, saying operatives responded swiftly to the distress call, rescued the child and apprehended the suspects.
According to the commissioner, preliminary investigations showed that the two suspects had previously been arrested in December 2025 and arraigned in court over a similar offence.
Sanusi said the suspects were convicted and later released on bail after spending about five months in prison.
He added that further investigations indicated that the suspects had allegedly abducted and trafficked four children to different parts of the country since their release.
