Fifteen National Youth Service Corps members have reportedly been kidnapped by gunmen while travelling from the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State to Abuja.
The incident occurred on Wednesday along the Ofu/Itobe–Onicha-Igo axis in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
A relative of one of the victims, who spoke with FIJ on Thursday, said the corps members were travelling in two buses when the attackers intercepted them.
According to the source, his brother, Ayodele David, was among the 15 corps members abducted from a Peace Mass Transit bus and another bus marked “564”.
The relative said a police officer, identified as Adeji Joshua of the Kogi State Police Command, informed them about the incident.
The officer reportedly said the driver of one of the buses was left behind by the kidnappers but sustained serious injuries during the attack.
He also reportedly described the attackers as a group of men who spoke Fulfulde, Hausa and English.

According to the account, passengers in the second vehicle were largely allowed to continue their journey because several of them were travelling with babies, although four passengers were reportedly taken.
A video circulating from the scene reportedly shows the attackers shooting at the victims before taking them away.
The identities of the abductors and the whereabouts of the kidnapped corps members remain unknown as of the time of filing this report.
