The Taraba State Police Command has recovered a Toyota Highlander allegedly stolen in Jalingo after the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled in a bid to evade arrest.
The command said the grey Toyota Highlander, bearing registration number KRM 75 AA, was stolen at about 8:16 p.m. near the area opposite Jalingo City Mall at Road Block in the state capital.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Victor Mshelizah, the command disclosed that officers immediately launched a coordinated operation, increasing surveillance and monitoring major entry and exit routes across Jalingo following the report.
According to the police, the intensified security presence and strategic deployment of personnel forced the fleeing suspects to abandon the stolen vehicle before escaping.
The recovered Toyota Highlander has been taken into police custody while investigations continue.

The police said efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest the suspects involved in the theft, assuring residents that all available resources would be deployed to ensure they are brought to justice.
Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Moorkwap Sebastian Dongshal, praised the officers for their prompt response and vigilance, reaffirming the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and tackling criminal activities across the state.
The command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or criminal activities to security agencies.
