A graduate of Lagos State University (LASU) is currently fighting for his life after being shot by suspected armed robbers during a failed attack on a Point of Sale (PoS) operator in Lagos.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday along Kayode Onafuye Street in the Alhaji Ede area of Igando. According to eyewitness accounts, the attackers, numbering about four, arrived on two motorcycles and trailed the PoS operator to her residence.
Sources revealed that the suspects initially visited the operator’s nearby shop but did not find her. They then proceeded to her residence, attempting to force entry while calling out for her. However, occupants of the building quickly locked the entrance, preventing the robbers from gaining access.
Frustrated by their failed attempt, the assailants allegedly opened fire indiscriminately. A stray bullet struck the LASU graduate, who was reportedly walking along the street at the time, unaware of the unfolding situation.

Residents said panic spread across the neighborhood as gunshots rang out. After the attackers fled, the injured victim was quickly rushed to a nearby general hospital for emergency treatment.
Further reports indicate that the victim had recently graduated and was preparing to participate in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.
Security operatives were said to have responded promptly after the incident was reported. Police sources confirmed that officers were deployed to the scene, where spent bullet shells were recovered as part of ongoing investigations.
As of the time of this report, authorities are yet to release an official statement detailing arrests or further developments related to the incident.
The attack adds to growing concerns over rising insecurity and targeted attacks on PoS operators in parts of Lagos State.
