
Troops of the 82 Division Task Force under Operation HADIN KAI have successfully rescued nine abducted victims, including women and children, during coordinated patrol operations in Borno State.
The rescue missions took place around Armuda Bridge in Ngoshe, Gwoza Local Government Area, as part of ongoing military efforts to dismantle terrorist activities and secure vulnerable communities.
According to reports from a counter-insurgency source monitoring the Lake Chad region, the operations were carried out on July 14 during routine patrols. The troops encountered several victims who had reportedly escaped from terrorist captivity.
In one of the incidents, three young girls—aged between 9 and 12—were spotted in distress, running toward a military position in the early hours of the day. The troops swiftly secured the area and evacuated the children to safety.

Later that afternoon, another teenage girl was rescued under similar circumstances after approaching troops during a patrol. Security operatives immediately conducted a sweep of the surrounding environment to ensure there was no imminent threat before moving her to a secure location.
Preliminary findings indicate that the rescued victims are from communities within the Agapalawa axis and had managed to flee captivity before encountering the soldiers.
The latest rescue operation brings the total number of abductees freed through ongoing military offensives in the East Corridor to over 100, highlighting sustained progress in the fight against insurgency in the region.
Military authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying clearance operations across Borno State to ensure the safety of civilians and restore lasting peace.
