
Nine individuals abducted by suspected terrorists have regained their freedom after reportedly escaping from captivity in Katsina State.
The victims were rescued by troops of the 17 Brigade during a routine foot patrol in Anguwan Doka, Faskari Local Government Area. The interception occurred in the early hours of July 15, at approximately 8:30 a.m.
According to security sources, the group consisted of three women, four men, and two children. Preliminary accounts from the victims revealed that they had been kidnapped along the Tsafe–Kuchere Road in Zamfara State.
In a surprising turn of events, the victims disclosed that they seized an opportunity to escape when their captors allegedly fell asleep at their hideout.

They reportedly trekked for hours before encountering the military patrol team that ensured their safety.
The victims identified themselves as residents of Kuchere village in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Military authorities have since placed the rescued individuals under protective care, pending their safe reunification with their families.
Security operations in the region remain ongoing as efforts intensify to curb kidnapping and restore safety across affected communities.
