
FIFA has confirmed the appointment of Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić to officiate the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and Spain.
The highly anticipated title decider will take place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, where Vinčić will be assisted by fellow Slovenians Tomaž Klančnik and Andraž Kovačič. Jordan’s Adham Makhadmeh has been named as the fourth official.
The final will mark Vinčić’s fourth assignment at the tournament, having already overseen several key fixtures during the competition.

Among the matches he has officiated are the group-stage encounters between Brazil and Morocco, as well as Jordan and Algeria. He also took charge of the Round of 32 clash between Mexico and Ecuador.
During the Mexico-Ecuador fixture, Vinčić issued a red card to Ecuador defender Piero Hincapié under FIFA’s anti-discrimination regulations, commonly referred to as the “Vinícius Law.”
Argentina secured their place in the final after defeating England 2-1 in the semi-finals, while Spain booked their spot with a 2-0 victory over France.
The World Cup final is expected to attract a global audience as the two football powerhouses battle for the biggest prize in international football.
