
Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), in collaboration with local forest guards, have successfully rescued two kidnap victims during a coordinated operation in Kwara State.
The rescue mission, which took place in a forest area linking Oba Isin and Owa Onire communities across Isin and Ifelodun Local Government Areas, led to the safe recovery of two victims identified as 16-year-old Fatima Azeez and 5-year-old Ibrahim Azeez.
According to security sources, the operation also resulted in the elimination of two suspected bandits, while several others reportedly escaped with serious injuries following a gun battle with security personnel.
During the raid, security operatives recovered a cache of weapons and items believed to have been used by the kidnappers.

These include an AK-47 rifle, a single-barrel gun, a fully loaded magazine, nine empty magazines, a mini solar panel, and food supplies.
The operation is part of ongoing multi-agency efforts aimed at tackling kidnapping and armed banditry in the region. Authorities say intensified surveillance and joint security actions will continue to dismantle criminal hideouts and ensure the safety of residents.
Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies as efforts to curb insecurity in the state are strengthened.
