
The Kogi State Government has confirmed the successful rescue of four individuals abducted during a recent attack in Olowa, located in Dekina Local Government Area of the state.
The victims comprising a school principal, a NECO official, and two students were freed following a coordinated security operation launched immediately after the incident.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, disclosed that the rescue was achieved through the directive of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, who ordered an urgent and joint security intervention.
According to the Commissioner, the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), led the operation in collaboration with multiple security agencies, including the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, and local vigilante groups.
Security operatives reportedly stormed the forest where the victims were held, applying sustained pressure that forced the kidnappers to abandon them and flee.

Fanwo noted that the victims have been safely recovered and are currently undergoing debriefing and medical evaluation with security agencies.
He further stated that the operation is ongoing, with security forces maintaining presence in the area to track down the fleeing suspects and ensure they are brought to justice.
The Kogi State Government commended the bravery and professionalism of all security personnel involved, highlighting the success as a strong example of effective inter-agency collaboration in tackling insecurity.
The government also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support in strengthening security operations within the state.
Authorities have reassured residents of their commitment to safeguarding lives and property, emphasizing that criminal activities will not be tolerated in Kogi State.
