The Kwara State Police Command has arrested three suspected members of the notorious Eiye confraternity over the abduction and murder of a 29-year-old student of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, identified as Sodiq Durodola Olaniyi.
The suspects—Adeoye Babatunde (alias “Solar”), Bernard Kayode (alias “KK”), and Owoyemi Bashiru (alias “GDP”)—were apprehended following weeks of intelligence-led investigations conducted by the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU).
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the arrests were made during coordinated tactical operations carried out at known cult hideouts across Ilorin metropolis on June 29, 2026.
Preliminary findings revealed that the suspects are members of a violent cult group allegedly responsible for Olaniyi’s disappearance, who had been missing since June 4, 2026.
During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to their involvement in the crime, admitting that the victim was abducted and later killed by members of the group.

The police further disclosed that the criminal network consists of about twelve members, with nine suspects still at large. Efforts have been intensified to track down the fleeing members, dismantle the syndicate, and recover the victim’s remains.
The arrested suspects are also said to be providing useful information regarding other violent crimes linked to the group within Ilorin and its environs.
The Command assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that all individuals found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
This development comes amid rising concerns over cult-related violence in Kwara State, particularly in Ilorin, where recent clashes between rival groups have led to multiple casualties and heightened security operations.
