The Red Devils refused to give up and began their comeback late in the game. Romelu Lukaku reduced the deficit in the 86th minute before Youri Tielemans scored the equaliser three minutes later to send the match into extra time.
With the contest seemingly heading for a penalty shootout, Belgium were awarded a late penalty after a VAR review. Tielemans converted from the spot in the closing moments of extra time to complete a remarkable turnaround and seal a 3-2 victory.
The result sends Belgium into the Round of 16, where they will face the United States. Senegal, meanwhile, exit the tournament after letting a two-goal lead slip in one of the most dramatic matches of the knockout stage.
