
A Nigerian soldier has escaped after spending several days in the custody of suspected kidnappers and safely reached a military facility in Makurdi, Benue State.
The soldier, who is attached to the 130 Battalion in Baga, was reportedly abducted on June 27 while travelling on welfare leave to the battalion’s rear base in Ogoja, Cross River State.
Security sources said the soldier escaped from his captors on June 30 and made his way to the 72 Special Forces Battalion in Makurdi. The circumstances surrounding his escape were not immediately disclosed.

Military authorities are making arrangements to transfer him to the 130 Battalion’s rear base in Ogoja, where he will undergo medical examination, debriefing and other administrative procedures.
Authorities have also launched an investigation to determine how the soldier was abducted and to identify those responsible for the kidnapping.
