Veteran Nigerian singer SkyB has accused some Port Harcourt musicians, including Grammy winner Burna Boy, of failing to support him despite his contributions to the city’s music scene.
Speaking on a recent episode of the KAA Truth podcast, SkyB said he helped pave the way for several Port Harcourt artists when he was active in the industry. He named Mr. 2Kay and Timaya among those he assisted early in their careers.
According to the ‘Pray For Me’ crooner, the support stopped once his own career declined. He said some of the artists he once helped have refused to collaborate or share stages with him.
SkyB also expressed disappointment that Burna Boy has not supported him to return to the spotlight. While he admitted he did not directly assist Burna Boy, he believes the singer should have offered collaboration or financial help given his current status.

He claimed that being from Rivers State has made it harder to get support compared to artists from other ethnic groups. “Assuming I am a Yoruba or an Igbo man, maybe they could have considered helping me. But because I am from Rivers, the envy is too much,” he said.
SkyB recalled an incident where a governor’s aide arranged for an artist to perform with him at an event, but the artist declined and pulled out of the deal to avoid sharing the stage.
The singer said he and other early Port Harcourt artists made sacrifices and invested resources to build the local music industry, and expects recognition and support from those now at the top.
