Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised 1,106 Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province fighters during military operations in Borno State over the past year.
The outgoing Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, disclosed this during his farewell address at Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri.
He said the operations also led to the arrest of 758 logistics collaborators suspected of supporting the insurgent groups, while more than N300 million in illicit funds linked to their financiers was intercepted.
According to him, troops recovered over 475 assorted weapons and 24,409 rounds of ammunition during the operations. A total of 295 Improvised Explosive Devices were also discovered and safely detonated.
Abubakar said the military combined sustained combat operations with non-kinetic measures, which contributed to the surrender of more than 969 Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters and their family members.

He added that troops rescued 638 civilians from terrorist enclaves, including all 46 students abducted during an attempted attack on the Federal Government Girls College in Monguno.
The commander also listed several senior insurgent figures who were neutralised during the operations, including Abu Bilal Al-Muniki, Malam Jidda, Abu Modu, Modu Dogo, Munzir of Dogon Chukun, Abu Aisha and Abul Kaka.
He thanked President Bola Tinubu and the Borno State Government for the opportunity to serve in the theatre.
