
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested six individuals in connection with a fraudulent scheme involving the illegal sale and transfer of three heavy-duty vehicles valued at over ₦71 million.
The suspects Adeola Kolawole (56), Alhaji Gani Bello (73), Oladoja Akeem (56), Wasiu Adigun (55), Azeez Yusuf (49), and Ojo Mudasiru (40) were apprehended in Ibadan, Oyo State, following an intelligence-led investigation by police operatives.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the case was reported on May 22, 2026, by Mr. Paul Aderemi, a resident of Ondo town.
Preliminary findings revealed that in May 2025, the complainant purchased a low-loader truck, a tipper truck, and a smaller truck, collectively worth about ₦71 million.
The vehicles were reportedly entrusted to the principal suspect, Adeola Kolawole, under an agreed arrangement.

However, on May 13, 2026, Aderemi discovered that the vehicles had allegedly been sold without his authorization, prompting him to report the matter to the police.
Investigations led to the arrest of Kolawole, who reportedly confessed to selling the vehicles to Alhaji Gani Bello in Ibadan.
His statement provided critical leads that enabled law enforcement officers to apprehend the remaining suspects believed to have played roles in the fraudulent transaction.
The police stated that efforts are ongoing to recover the stolen vehicles and fully uncover the extent of the criminal network. All six suspects have allegedly made confessional statements and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The command also urged members of the public to support law enforcement efforts by providing timely and credible information to help combat crime and enhance security across Ondo State.
