
The Ondo State Police Command has apprehended two individuals in connection with the vandalism and theft of public property at the Ondo State General Hospital, Igbotako, located in Okitipupa Local Government Area.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the primary suspect, identified as Promise Godspower, allegedly gained unauthorized access to the hospital premises.
He reportedly vandalised critical electrical installations and made away with electrical cables before being arrested by law enforcement operatives.
The police further disclosed that a security officer assigned to the facility, Pogbara Sigalo, was also taken into custody.
He is being investigated for alleged negligence after reportedly abandoning his duty post at the time the incident occurred, which may have enabled the crime.

The incident was initially reported on May 6, 2026, by a concerned citizen. Following the report, detectives were deployed to the scene, where preliminary investigations were conducted.
Evidence, including photographs of the damaged infrastructure, was documented.
Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives tracked and arrested the main suspect, who reportedly confessed during interrogation. Authorities have also confirmed that the stolen electrical cables have been recovered.
The police noted that the act not only constitutes theft but also caused significant damage to essential government infrastructure meant to serve the public.
Investigations are ongoing to determine whether other accomplices were involved.
Both suspects are expected to be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
