A distraught mother has shared a heartbreaking account of how armed bandits abducted her child alongside dozens of other pupils during a violent attack on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Recounting the traumatic incident, the woman explained that she had prepared her child for school as usual and was at home cooking when the attackers stormed the community, firing gunshots indiscriminately.
According to her, she was forced to hide for safety but helplessly witnessed the moment the gunmen gathered her child and other pupils before whisking them away.
βI had just sent my child to school and was in the kitchen preparing a meal when suddenly, bandits invaded our town and started shooting. I ran into hiding, but from where I was, I saw them assembling my child together with other children,β she narrated emotionally.
The visibly shaken mother said the experience has left her deeply traumatised, as she continues to live in fear and uncertainty over her childβs safety.

The incident has once again raised serious concerns about the safety of schools and communities amid rising insecurity across parts of the country.
