
A former Senior Special Assistant on Community Development in Katsina State, Nura Garwa, has been arrested and linked to an alleged kidnapping syndicate currently under investigation by security operatives in the state.
Garwa, a former aide in the administration of the Governor of Dikko Umaru Radda, was among suspects recently paraded by the Nigeria Police Force over the alleged abduction of an eight-year-old boy in Sardauna Estate, Katsina metropolis.
According to the Katsina State Government, Garwa had earlier been suspended from office over allegations of diversion of empowerment materials meant for communities in Batsari Local Government Area under the state’s Community Development Programme.
Security sources said the suspect was already under investigation before he attempted to contest a seat in the Katsina State House of Assembly representing Batsari Local Government Area.

The incident reportedly occurred at Sardauna Estate in Katsina metropolis, where the victim was abducted, prompting swift response from security agencies and subsequent arrests linked to the case.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect is part of a broader investigation into a suspected kidnapping network operating within parts of the state.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda commended security agencies for their efforts in tackling insecurity and urged residents to support ongoing operations by providing credible information that could aid investigations.
The police say efforts are ongoing to dismantle criminal syndicates and ensure all those involved are brought to justice.
