A female spa worker in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, Olorunseunfunmi Awosogbon, is undergoing specialist medical treatment after being attacked with a corrosive substance suspected to be acid during a home massage appointment. The incident, which occurred on October 25, 2025, at Lakowe Golf Gate near Utmost Care Hospital, has led to charges against two men at an Ebute-Metta Magistrate Court.
According to court documents and the victim’s employer, Olorunmaye Ifeoluwa, the attack was allegedly arranged by 25-year-old Owolabi Daniel following the collapse of their personal relationship earlier in the year. Ifeoluwa said she first met Daniel when he booked a massage at her spa and later agreed to a relationship, but it was strained by disagreements. She said she ended things and made it clear she did not want to continue, after which she began receiving anonymous threats to her life.
The spa owner added that suspicious home-service bookings followed, including one where the client stopped responding after her staff arrived at the location. On the day of the attack, Awosogbon, known to colleagues as Ajoke, arrived at the appointment in a ride-hailing vehicle when 37-year-old Ziaulihak Zakari allegedly approached and poured the substance on her. Ifeoluwa said she immediately arranged for the victim to be rushed to a hospital in Lekki before she was transferred to Ikeja for further care.

Court filings show that Zakari and Daniel are facing charges of conspiracy, threats to life, and causing bodily harm under the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. One count alleges that Daniel sent threatening electronic messages warning that the attack “was not the end” and that he intended to kill Ifeoluwa. The spa owner said the threats continued after the incident and that a private investigation later linked them to Daniel, prompting a police report and his arrest.
Ifeoluwa said she now fears for her safety and that of her staff, especially since Daniel has been granted bail. The victim’s lawyer, John Olobayo, criticized the charges as too lenient, arguing that more serious offences should be pursued and that petitions have been submitted to the Ministry of Justice.
The father of one of the suspects said he had sold his house to help cover the victim’s medical expenses but declined to comment further, referring inquiries to his lawyer. The lawyer also refused to speak on the case without knowing how his client’s contact was obtained.
