
Nigerian music star Asake has opened up about his rise to fame, admitting that there are many talented musicians who are yet to gain recognition in the industry.
Speaking during a recent interview with Spotify, the “Sungba” crooner reflected on his journey and the role Lagos played in shaping his career.
According to Asake, relocating to Lagos after graduating from Obafemi Awolowo University was a turning point in his life, as the city helped him grow into adulthood and inspired much of his music.

“Lagos taught me how to live like a man. Lagos inspired most of my songs,” he said.
Despite his growing global success, the singer maintained that talent alone does not always guarantee visibility, noting that many gifted artists remain unheard.
“I’m happy because there are a lot of people who make music out there, and many are more talented than me. I’m thankful to God that I’m able to use the talent He gave me not only locally but also globally.
For that, I give all thanks to God,” he added.
Asake’s remarks highlight the challenges many aspiring musicians face in gaining exposure, even as the Nigerian music industry continues to expand on the global stage.
