
Xabi Alonso has revealed his three main focuses as he prepares to take charge at Chelsea this summer.
The former Liverpool and Real Madrid midfielder was appointed as Chelsea’s new head coach after the Blues lost the FA Cup final to Manchester City at Wembley on Saturday. Alonso will officially begin his role on July 1, 2026, on a four-year contract.

Speaking to Chelsea’s website, the 44-year-old said he is honoured to lead a squad with great talent. He outlined his vision for the club in clear terms.
“My focus is on hard work, the right culture and winning trophies,” Alonso stated.
