
New Flying Eagles head coach Abdu Maikaba says he feels honoured to take charge of Nigeria’s U-20 national team.
Maikaba was appointed as head coach of the seven-time African champions two weeks ago and will lead the side at the 2025 WAFU B U-20 Championship in July. The experienced tactician previously served as an assistant coach with both the Flying Eagles and Nigeria’s U-17 team, the Golden Eaglets

In a post on X, Maikaba described the role as both a privilege and a major responsibility.
“I am deeply honoured for this role as Head Coach of the Nigeria U-20 Flying Eagles,” he wrote. “To lead this team is a massive responsibility and a privilege I do not take lightly. Nigeria’s football history is built on passion, grit, and talent.”
