
Canada, Paraguay, Morocco and Brazil have secured their places in the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup following the opening Round of 32 fixtures.
Canada became the first team to advance after edging South Africa 1-0. Paraguay also progressed after holding Germany to a 1-1 draw before claiming a 4-3 victory in the penalty shootout.
Morocco joined the last 16 after a dramatic encounter with the Netherlands. The match ended 1-1 before the Atlas Lions triumphed 3-2 on penalties.
Brazil completed the list of qualified teams with a 2-1 victory over Japan, booking their place in the next round.
In the Round of 16, Canada will face Morocco on July 4, while Paraguay will take on the winner of the France versus Sweden clash. Brazil will meet the winner of the Côte d’Ivoire against Norway fixture.

The Round of 32 continues with France facing Sweden, Côte d’Ivoire taking on Norway, and co-hosts Mexico playing Ecuador. Other upcoming fixtures include England versus DR Congo, the United States against Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgium versus Senegal, Spain against Austria, Portugal facing Croatia, Switzerland taking on Algeria, Argentina meeting Cabo Verde, Colombia facing Ghana, and Australia playing Egypt.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup final is scheduled to take place on July 19 at New York New Jersey Stadium.
