The wife and three children of a former Niger State Commissioner for Education, Abubakar Daja, have died in a fatal road crash along the Kutigi-Bida Road in Niger State.
The accident occurred around 11:30am on Sunday at Shebe Village and involved a Sienna vehicle and a Mazda car.
According to reports, the late Hajia Daja was travelling from Minna towards the Mokwa-Bida Road in a Mazda with her four children when the crash occurred.
She and three of her children reportedly died at the scene, while their teenage daughter survived but sustained serious injuries, including a broken rib and shoulder injury.
An eyewitness from Mokwa Local Government Area, Salihu Abubakar, expressed concern over the condition of the surviving teenager, who was reportedly unconscious after the crash.

The crash also claimed the lives of two occupants of the Sienna, bringing the reported death toll to nine.
Confirming the incident, a source said 18 people were involved in the crash, with seven people killed, seven injured and four others escaping without injuries.
The accident has left the community mourning the loss of the former commissioner’s wife and three of his children.
Abubakar Daja, who hailed from Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State, died in 2025. He served as Commissioner for Education during Nigeria’s return to democratic rule in 1999 and completed two terms in office, ending his tenure in 2007.
